Make melt-in-your-mouth butter cookies with just three ingredients. This simple recipe is perfect for quick holiday baking or everyday treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add the flour to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until just combined and a soft dough forms.
  3. Shape the dough into a log, about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap the log in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Remove the dough log from the refrigerator and unwrap it. Slice the log into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  6. Place the cookie slices onto the prepared baking sheets, about 1 inch apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough.
  • If you prefer a crisper cookie, bake for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • These cookies store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
