- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the flour to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until just combined and a soft dough forms.
- Shape the dough into a log, about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap the log in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Remove the dough log from the refrigerator and unwrap it. Slice the log into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
- Place the cookie slices onto the prepared baking sheets, about 1 inch apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough.
- If you prefer a crisper cookie, bake for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- These cookies store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
