A lighter, naturally sweetened apple crisp with an oat and nut topping, perfect for fall.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups thinly sliced apples (about 4 medium)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the apple mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, chopped almonds, almond flour, 1/4 cup coconut oil, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix until well combined.
  4. Evenly sprinkle the oat and nut topping over the apples.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.

  • For a vegan option, ensure your maple syrup is vegan.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of dairy-free vanilla ice cream or coconut yogurt.
