Make this quick and easy Garlic Butter Rice to upgrade your plain white rice. This savory side dish uses simple ingredients and cooks fast, making it perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups long grain white rice
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  4. Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir for 1 minute to coat the grains with the butter mixture.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  7. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly, and simmer for 15 to 18 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed. Do not lift the lid during simmering.
  8. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 10 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice gently with a fork. Garnish with fresh parsley, if using, before serving.
