Quick and budget-friendly salmon patties made from canned salmon, perfect for a fast, high-protein dinner.

  • 1 (15 ounce) can salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained salmon, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, chopped onion, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Carefully place the salmon patties in the hot skillet.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can add a bit more breadcrumbs to the mixture.
  • Serve with tartar sauce or a simple dill sauce made from Greek yogurt, fresh dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • These patties can also be cooked in an air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
