Make the classic, addictive Chex Party Mix at home using this simple oven-baked recipe. This savory snack mix is perfect for game days, holidays, or any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups Chex cereal (a mix of Rice Chex and Corn Chex works best)
  • 1 cup pretzel twists
  • 1 cup bagel chips
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (pecans, almonds, or peanuts)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a very large bowl, combine the Chex cereal, pretzels, bagel chips, and nuts. Set aside.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  4. Remove the butter from the heat. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and paprika until well combined. This is your savory seasoning mixture.
  5. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the cereal mixture in the large bowl. Gently stir with a large rubber spatula until all the cereal pieces are lightly coated. Work slowly to avoid crushing the cereal.
  6. Spread the coated mix in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheets. Do not overlap the pieces too much.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove the sheets from the oven and gently stir the mix. Return to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the mix cool completely on the baking sheets. The mix will crisp up as it cools.
  9. Once cool, break apart any large clumps and store the addictive snack mix in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can substitute half of the butter with margarine or use brown butter for a deeper taste.
  • If you want a variation, try adding 1 cup of oyster crackers or Cheerios cereal to the mix.
  • This recipe is easy to double for large parties, but you may need three baking sheets to ensure even baking.
