A simple, three-ingredient chocolate cherry dump cake recipe that’s perfect for potlucks and quick desserts. Serve warm with ice cream for a crowd-pleasing treat.

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) Devil’s Food cake mix
  • 2 cans (21 oz each) cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour both cans of cherry pie filling into a 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread evenly.
  3. Sprinkle the dry Devil’s Food cake mix evenly over the cherry pie filling. Do not stir.
  4. If using, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the dry cake mix.
  5. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the cake mix is golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. This dessert is best served warm.

  • Serve this dump cake warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • For a Black Forest variation, use chocolate cake mix and add a handful of fresh or frozen cherries along with the pie filling.
