Ingredients
Scale
1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 (12 ounce) can lemon-lime soda
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles. Place one slice of apple onto the wide end of each triangle. Roll up the dough around the apple slice, starting from the wide end.
Place the rolled apple dumplings seam-side down in the prepared baking dish.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the granulated sugar, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Pour the butter mixture evenly over the apple dumplings in the baking dish.
Pour the lemon-lime soda over the dumplings and the syrup.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the syrup is bubbly.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
For a richer flavor, you can use a mix of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Ensure the soda covers most of the dumplings for even cooking.
