Make these classic Kentucky Bourbon Balls without turning on your oven. This simple recipe uses vanilla wafers and pecans to create rich, boozy dessert bites perfect for holiday parties or adult gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed vanilla wafers (about 150 grams)
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup bourbon (Jim Beam or similar)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Extra confectioners’ sugar or cocoa powder for rolling

Instructions

  1. Place the crushed vanilla wafers, chopped pecans, 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar, and cocoa powder into a medium bowl. Mix these dry ingredients together thoroughly.
  2. In a separate small bowl, combine the bourbon, honey, and vanilla extract. Stir until the honey dissolves slightly into the liquid.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Use a spoon or clean hands to mix everything until a stiff dough forms.
  4. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Roll each ball in extra confectioners’ sugar or cocoa powder until fully coated.
  6. Place the finished bourbon balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Chill the bourbon balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow them to set.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, substitute the vanilla wafers with graham crackers.
  • If the mixture seems too dry to hold a shape, add bourbon one teaspoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
  • These treats keep well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
