Make this simple, layered peppermint bark using only three ingredients. This no-bake holiday treat features dark and white chocolate topped with crushed candy canes, perfect for gifting or snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz dark chocolate, high quality
  • 12 oz white chocolate, high quality
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval until smooth. Do not overheat.
  3. Pour the melted dark chocolate into the prepared pan. Spread it into an even layer across the bottom.
  4. Place the pan in the refrigerator for 10 minutes, or until the dark chocolate layer is set but still slightly tacky.
  5. While the dark chocolate sets, melt the white chocolate using the same 30-second interval method until completely smooth.
  6. Pour the melted white chocolate over the set dark chocolate layer. Spread it evenly.
  7. Immediately sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies evenly over the wet white chocolate layer. Gently press the candy pieces into the chocolate with the back of a spoon or your fingers.
  8. Return the pan to the refrigerator and chill for at least 1 hour, or until the bark is completely firm.
  9. Lift the bark out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Break the bark into irregular pieces.
  10. Store the peppermint bark in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For a salted variation, sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of flaky sea salt over the white chocolate layer before the peppermint.
  • If you prefer a thinner bark, use a larger pan, like a 9×13 inch pan.
  • If you are planning holiday meals, consider using this recipe as a quick dessert option alongside your meal planning.
