Make crispy, cheesy English muffin pizzas in minutes. This recipe is simple, kid-friendly, and perfect for a fast snack, lunch, or easy dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 English muffins, split
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup toppings of choice (e.g., sliced pepperoni, cooked sausage, sliced bell peppers, mushrooms)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional, for crispier edges)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven or toaster oven to 400°F (200°C). If using an air fryer, preheat to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly toast the English muffin halves in the toaster or oven until slightly golden. This prevents sogginess.
  3. If you want extra crispy edges, brush the cut sides lightly with olive oil before topping.
  4. Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over the surface of each muffin half.
  5. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  6. Add your desired toppings over the cheese.
  7. Oven/Toaster Oven Method: Place the topped muffins on a baking sheet. Bake for 6 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the muffin are golden brown.
  8. Air Fryer Method: Place the topped muffins in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you may need to work in batches). Cook for 4 to 6 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese is melted and the muffin edges are crisp.
  9. Remove from the oven or air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a Breakfast Pizza variation, skip the marinara. Use a thin layer of cream cheese or gravy, top with cooked, crumbled breakfast sausage or bacon, and a fried egg (cooked separately).
  • For a Cheeseburger Pizza variation, use a thin layer of ketchup/mustard mix as the base, top with cooked, crumbled lean ground beef, a sprinkle of cheddar cheese, and a few diced onions.
  • These mini pizzas are great for meal planning. Assemble them completely (sauce, cheese, toppings) on the muffins, place them on a tray, and freeze them before baking. Wrap individually in plastic wrap and then foil. Bake from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes to the cook time.
