- 3 ripe avocados
- 1/2 cup finely chopped white onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1–2 serrano peppers, minced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1/2 cup diced tomato
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Mash the avocado flesh with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency. For chunky guacamole, leave some larger pieces.
- Add the chopped onion, cilantro, minced serrano peppers, lime juice, and salt to the bowl.
- If using, add the diced tomato.
- Stir everything together until well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or lime juice.
- Serve immediately or cover tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning.
Notes
- To prevent browning for make-ahead guacamole, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface, ensuring no air is trapped.
- Use ripe avocados; they should yield slightly to gentle pressure.
- Adjust the amount of serrano pepper to control the heat level.
- This recipe is great for game days, taco nights, or any party.
