A simple recipe for fresh, homemade guacamole perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped white onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 12 serrano peppers, minced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup diced tomato

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado flesh with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency. For chunky guacamole, leave some larger pieces.
  3. Add the chopped onion, cilantro, minced serrano peppers, lime juice, and salt to the bowl.
  4. If using, add the diced tomato.
  5. Stir everything together until well combined.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or lime juice.
  7. Serve immediately or cover tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning.

Notes

  • To prevent browning for make-ahead guacamole, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface, ensuring no air is trapped.
  • Use ripe avocados; they should yield slightly to gentle pressure.
  • Adjust the amount of serrano pepper to control the heat level.
  • This recipe is great for game days, taco nights, or any party.
