A quick and flavorful marinade that keeps tuna steaks tender and delicious, perfect for grilling or pan-searing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Place tuna steaks in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag.
  3. Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks, ensuring they are fully coated.
  4. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes. Do not marinate for too long, as the citrus can start to ‘cook’ the fish.
  5. Remove tuna from marinade, discarding the excess marinade.
  6. Grill or pan-sear the tuna steaks to your desired doneness.

Notes

  • For a soy-free option, substitute coconut aminos for soy sauce.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinade for a touch of heat.
  • This marinade is also great for other types of fish or even chicken.
