Make these soft, creamy orange cream cheese mints. They have a bright citrus flavor and a melt-in-your-mouth texture. This no-bake candy is simple to prepare and perfect for holidays or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar, plus more for rolling
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest, finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 12 drops orange food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the softened cream cheese, 3 cups of confectioners’ sugar, orange zest, and orange extract in a medium bowl.
  2. Mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer on low speed until the ingredients are just combined. If using, add the food coloring now.
  3. Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Place the cream cheese mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up slightly. This makes shaping easier.
  5. Pour extra confectioners’ sugar onto a plate or shallow dish for rolling.
  6. Scoop out small amounts of the chilled mixture (about 1 teaspoon each). Roll the mixture into small balls between your palms.
  7. Roll each ball in the extra confectioners’ sugar until fully coated.
  8. Place the finished mints on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Chill the orange cream cheese mints for at least 1 hour before serving or storing.

Notes

  • For a stronger citrus flavor, use fresh orange zest from one large orange.
  • If the mixture is too soft to roll, chill it for an additional 15 minutes.
  • You can shape these into small squares or use a small candy mold instead of rolling balls.
  • Store these homemade candy gifts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
