Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (6-ounce) sushi-grade Ahi tuna steaks
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and honey.
  2. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes per side for rare, or longer to your desired doneness.
  5. Remove tuna from skillet and let rest for a minute.
  6. Slice the tuna steaks and drizzle with the soy-ginger glaze.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, marinate the tuna in the glaze for 15-30 minutes before searing.
  • Ensure your skillet is very hot before adding the tuna to achieve a good sear.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or a fresh salad.
