Make classic, crispy oven baked pork chops using the Shake ‘N Bake coating mix. This simple recipe delivers a nostalgic, oven fried pork chops taste without the need for frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick)
  • 1 package Shake ‘N Bake Original Coating Mix
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg and water until fully combined. This creates the binder for the coating.
  3. Pour the entire contents of the Shake ‘N Bake mix into another shallow dish.
  4. Dip each pork chop first into the egg wash, allowing any excess to drip off.
  5. Dredge the wet pork chop thoroughly in the Shake ‘N Bake mix, pressing the coating onto both sides to adhere well. This is the best way to use shake n bake mix for maximum coverage.
  6. Place the coated pork chops on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they do not touch.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. For thicker chops (over 3/4 inch), you may need closer to 30 minutes. The internal temperature should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. For extra crispiness, you can briefly place the chops under the broiler for the last 1 to 2 minutes, watching them closely to prevent burning.

Notes

  • For a slightly richer flavor, you can substitute milk for the water in the egg wash.
  • If you prefer boneless chops, reduce the cooking time by about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • This method is excellent for quick weeknight pork chops or chicken.
