This easy slow cooker BBQ chicken recipe delivers tender, shredded chicken perfect for sandwiches, tacos, or bowls. It’s a ‘set it and forget it’ meal ideal for busy weeknights and meal prep.

  • 3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place chicken in the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  5. Remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred using two forks.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to coat with the sauce.
  7. Serve hot.
