Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups festive M&M’s
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Stir in the M&M’s and white chocolate chips (if using).
  7. Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For best results, use room temperature butter and eggs.
  • You can substitute other holiday-themed candies or sprinkles for the M&M’s.
  • Store cooled bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • These bars freeze well. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then in foil for up to 3 months.
