- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups festive M&M’s
- 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in the M&M’s and white chocolate chips (if using).
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature butter and eggs.
- You can substitute other holiday-themed candies or sprinkles for the M&M’s.
- Store cooled bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- These bars freeze well. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then in foil for up to 3 months.
